Let’s get physical NFTs
Gummy creates the opportunity to represent physical objects through NFTs in web3. Thus giving artists, collectors, and many others in the meatspace access to this brave new world we are building. The opportunities are endless.
NFTs have taken the world by storm. They create the opportunity for true ownership of digital objects. What started with digital art will soon happen to music, movies, and other digital creative work. As exciting as this is, we live in the physical world and enjoy the work of painters, sculptors, unique furniture makers, musical instrument makers, and many more skilled creatives who make wonderful things. The list goes on; there is precious jewelry, objects of historical relevance, or simply items of great personal value. Today, they only really exist in our physical world and ownership can not simply be transferred online as is the case for NFTs.
Gummy changes this. Through advanced printing technology, it is possible to create a high-resolution image, which is unique and can not simply be copied. The gummy app can scan the image and verify its authenticity. When someone attempts to copy the image, the information, encoded in the colors and the orientation of the pixels, gets modified, and its authenticity is lost. This allows the gummy app to detect the fake. Those specially crafted images are printed on stickers, which not only have an extremely long lifetime but can not easily be removed without destroying the image, thus preventing a reusage of the sticker on a potentially counterfeit.
Gummies will be available for beta-testers on a first-come, first-serve basis starting this month. The invites will be sent out here: https://twitter.com/gummy_link. Shortly thereafter gummies will be available for everyone. A gummy can be purchased directly on our website: gummy.link. After sticking it on the object that the owner wants to NFT-ize, the minting of the NFT happens in a guided process with our web app and mobile app. The NFT get’s minted on Ethereum using the NFT standard with keys available through MetaMask. In the minting process, an extra photo of the object gets added to the NFT to increase security.
At the end of the process, the identification number encoded in the Gummy sticker has an unbreakable link to the NFT on the Ethereum blockchain owned by the person controlling the keys used in the MetaMask wallet.
After that, the NFT can be moved to a high-security MultiSig Wallet or to a DAO for shared ownership of objects. It can also be offered in NFT Markets like OpenSea. The use cases in the upcoming web3 Metaverse (not to be confused with the web2 Metaverse built by Facebook) are beyond the power of imagination. Ownership of real-world objects such as clothing, cars, art, music instruments can exist as a digital twin and be used as skins, gaming objects and so much more.
I am excited to be part of this journey as an investor and co-founder and committed to my long-term goal of making the physical space available in web3.
